The Debt Limit

This does an excellent job of explaining the mess known as the debt limit.

Aston Martin Virage

It looks like Aston Martin has moved the Vantage upscale in the form of the new Virage. It fits between the DB9 and DBS.

The Virage has a 490 horsepower V12 with a top speed of 185mph. It has a perfect 50:50 weight distribution.

As much as I love Porsche, nothing in the world sounds as good as an Aston Martin!

New Macbook Pro - Thunderbolt

The new Macbook Pro Thunderbolt was released today. Yes I am going to get one. I am going to wait until this summer when Lion is released so that I don't have to go through that upgrade process.

The new Thunderbolt I/O technology promises a data transfer speeds of up to 10Gbps. Wow!

Underground Shelter Network

Vivos has come up with the ultimate underground fallout shelter. You can reserve your spot for only $50,000.

If you read their literature the whole thing is rather scary!

Borders Should Be An Example

Borders bankruptcy should be an example for any company trying to deal with a paradigm shift.

The book business began to move toward e-books approximately 24 months ago. In addition, places like Amazon.com and Costco can sell books for much less than Borders as they do not have the same overhead structure.

The interesting side story is that indie book stores are still flourishing. They are able to offer specialized customer service. There will always be people who prefer to read a real book!

Gold Nikon

For the photographer who has everything but good taste - a gold limited-edition Nikon FA.
Someone on eBay is asking only $10,999 for this beauty. In addition to the gold body, the lens has a band of gold and the body is wrapped in lizard skin.

I was trying to determine who would buy this then it came to me, the same person that buys the before mentioned Cadillac CTS-V Black Edition :-)

Ditch The Camera Strap

A revolution in camera carry is upon us. It is called the Spider Holster. This type of paradigm shift happens once in a lifetime!

Never a fan of camera straps, I placed one on my first DSLR anyway due to the cost of the camera. That said, camera straps always seem to get in the way.

Shai Eynav developed a system that enables you to carry your camera on your hip in a secure holster (see my rig above). Being a huge fan of Think Tank Photo products, I have the Spider Pro Holster Box attached to my Steroid Speed Belt. This allows me to carry a number of my favorite Think Tank products as well. In fact, if the Spider Pro Holster Box did not fit the Steroid Speed Belt, I would have second thoughts about it.

For extra security, I have attached a Camdapter hand strap. See my thoughts on the Camdapter here.

It is a new day in camera carry!

Best Strap Not A Camera Strap

I have never been a fan of camera straps. Even the best straps tend to get in the way. After decades of photography, the first camera strap that I ever used was when I bought my first DSLR. Something about paying more for a camera than my first car made me use a strap :-) That said, I don't like camera straps and I have tried them all!

Given a recent review by Karl Grobl, I decided to move to the Spider Holster carry system. This is by far a revolution in camera carry (more about that in another blog post).

Even with the Spider Holster, I felt like I needed a little extra security. That security came in the form of a Camdapter hand strap. Jim Garavuso has developed what I believe to be the best camera hand strap in existence!

WOW, I will never go back to a camera strap!

Biker - Cat Guy

This is one cool cat!

Bacon Toothpaste

This could very well be the best day of my life. I just discovered bacon toothpaste. Why did it take so long for someone to make this?

How did this make it past the ADA? :-)

Bacon Peanut Brittle

For those of us who can't seem to get enough bacon there is now a bacon peanut brittle. Sir Francis peanut brittle comes with bacon, peanuts and chocolate. Who could ask for more? :-)

As a Star Wars fanatic myself, this had to be the best Superbowl ad :-)

Bad Decisions

And then there are bad decisions :-) Not to be outdone by Porsche, the gold chain crowd comes out with a black special edition CTS-V. GM seems to think that they can appeal to a sports-minded geriatric crowd with a blinged Cadillac. These are the same people that used to buy the 'Gold' special edition models. :-)

This thing must depreciate 50% when it is driven off the lot. I am not sure if GM got the message but no one buys GM anymore. This car is no exception!

I am not sure what the question was but this is not the answer to BMW or Mercedes. :-)

Decisions, Decisions.............

Hot on the heals of the Cayman-R comes the Boxster S Black Edition. This thing is a beast as Boxster's go. It does 0-60 in 4.8 seconds with a PDK transmission.

As the name implies, every surface that isn't aluminum or stainless is black!
