Spring Is Finally Here

I can always tell when Spring arrives. Our duck couple, Donald and Daisy, show up to visit with the boys. Pretty soon the back yard will be filled with baby ducks.

Polaroid Is Back

It is hard to believe that Polaroid is back. In 2008 the company announced that they would stop production of the famous film. Later that year Florian Kaps and Andre Bosman decided to buy the remaining assets of Polaroid and revive the brand. Their new venture is known as Impossible Project. Unfortunately, Polaroid decided to stab the Impossible Brand people in the back in October of 2009 by reviving the Polaroid instant camera. I would imagine that the lawyers are fighting this out now.

Look for Impossible Project to release monochrome Polaroid film this month with color to follow later this year.

Tata Nano

Apparently, the new Tata Nano has a nasty habit of bursting into flames. This particular Nano was being delivered to a customer in Mumbai

Who would have thought that a $2500 car would burst into flames?

Top 10 Low Pass Flyby's Ever

This is pretty cool except for the lame Top Gun clip at the beginning.

The Cartoon Network Is Awesome!

Who doesn't love the Cartoon Network? In a recent survey, it ranked the 13th most popular network. It beat MSNBC at number 26 and CNN at 32.

The Cartoon Network is awesome!

F-35B Fighter

The new F-35B fighter jet is pretty amazing. Like the Harrier before it, the F-35B can do vertical take-off and landings. It will go to the US Marine Corps, Royal Navy and RAF.

Jetpack

After seeing Thunderball, who didn't want a jetpack as a kid? Well, now you can have a real one for only $90,000. Martin Aircraft is now taking deposits. I need two of them in case one is in the shop :-)

Pringles - Okra Flavor

What happened to the Pringles that we all loved? They are now available in seaweed, grilled shrimp, soft-shell crab, and lamb. This is just wrong!

10% Of Microsoft Employees Own An iPhone

According to a WSJ article, 10% of Microsoft employees own an iPhone. Apparently, a large percentage of the remainder of Microsoft's employees are not familiar with the truth :-)

Astronaut Job Market

It seems that there is a job market for Astronauts other than NASA. Bigelow Aerospace, a Las Vegas-based firm headed by Robert Bigelow, the owner of Budget Suites of America, posted a recruiting notice for astronauts on its website. That should be a short list to recruit from.

Japanese Ghost Towns

Given that most people think of Japan as being made up of densely populated cities, it is hard to imagine Japan having ghost towns. Michael John Grist spent six years photographing these ghost towns.

This project is very interesting indeed!

Cool Watch

This is one wild looking watch. The 4N is made of platinum or 18-carat gold, your choice. Only 16 will be made. Speculation is that the watch will be at least $80,000. Buy two :-)

NASA Takes New Photos of Earth

Yesterday, NASA released their latest photos of earth taken from the Space Shuttle. Prior to now, the most commonly used photo, referred to as the 'Blue Marble' was from Apollo 17 in 1972.

It looks like the new Nikon D3 is working out for them after all.

Unbelievable!

Honestly, this one is a little hard to believe. Scott Charney, the Microsoft Vice President for Trustworthy Computing, proposed a usage tax on the Internet to fight cyber threats.

So, let me get this right. Rather than build a secure product, Microsoft wants other people to pay for their defective software. Only in Microsoft's world does that make sense!

Hummer Is No More

Less than a month after General Motors extended its contract to sell its Hummer brand to China’s Sichuan Tengzhong Heavy Industrial Machines Co., Ltd., the automaker has announced that it will not complete the deal. Instead GM is just going to shut the brand down.

You just know that this is going to go horribly wrong.

Just Wrong - Another Installment

Porsche has announced that they are working on a hybrid concept - the 918 Spyder. I was hoping for a car that saved face after the monstrosity known as the Panamera. Looks like I was wrong!

Of course, I am one of those people that think all Porsche's should be 911's. When you go into a dealership they simply ask what color you want :-)
