Al Gore is Afraid of Czech President Vaclav Klaus

Czech President Vaclav Klaus said Tuesday he is ready to debate Al Gore about global warming. Only thing is, Gore will not return his calls. President Klaus calls global warming "climate alarmism" perpetuated by environmentalism trying to impose their ideals. He compares the global warming crowd to communists that feel that they have the right to sacrifice man and his freedom to make their ideas a reality.

Klaus has some excellent points in his new book. He is in good company. Roy Spencer, the former Senior Scientist for Climate Studies for NASA, wrote the seminal book that dispels the myth of global warming called - Climate Confusion. The book is ground breaking work that shows that the global warming myth is driven by politics, not truth.

It is going to be very interesting to see how this plays out in the next few years!

The Joys of Apple

With slowdowns in consumer spending, PC sales have been flat while sales of Apple computers have grown 50% since last year. In fact, Apple sales are now triple that of the PC market. Granted, Apple sales have a long way to go but they seem to be on fire right now.

Currently, two-thirds of all computer sold over $1000 are Apple's. Why the shift? Apple's just work! Apple controls the entire product from beginning to end. The result is a more stable platform. Yes, another reason for the shift is - Vista. WOW

Jamaica 2008 - Continued

Our annual Jamaica trip went well this year. Negril was as beautiful as ever. The Sandals resort where we stayed is definitely our favorite. Because we stay at Sandals on a regular basis, they upgraded us to butler service. Having a butler makes one wonder how you are able to do without one :-)

Yahoo! - The Implosion Begins

Yahoo would not sell to Microsoft yesterday for $33 a share. When the market opened today, Yahoo was down 17.02% of market value to $23.79 a share while Microsoft's value increased. The result at market open was Yahoo's market value dropping $8.7 billion. Nice work Jerry Yang!

This will turn into a nice Harvard Business School case study about how to destroy a company single-handidly.

Microsoft Walks Away From Yahoo

Today Microsoft walked away from its bid to buy Yahoo. Microsoft actually raised it bid to $33 a share. Yahoo wanted $37. As a result, Microsoft called the deal off. Watch for Yahoo's stock price to tank when the market opens on Monday. Shortly thereafter watch for a stockholder revolt.

Friends of mine in the Valley tell me that the best and brightest engineers at Yahoo have been leaving since the Microsoft bid was first announced back in February. They have had no shortage of job offers.

It would appear as if Yahoo just signed their own death warrant.

The New Wienermobile

Oscar Mayer has created a new wienermobile based on a Mini Cooper. How cool is this. I wonder if it would fit in my garage?
