It is real after all. Steve Jobs announced the new iPad today. It is 0.5 inches thick and a whopping 1.5 pounds. From what I can tell, it is basically a huge iPhone.
The real game changer for this device is that it takes the market power of Apple to the ebooks market. Their new ebook app is called iBooks. The one thing that has been a thorn in Amazon's side for ebooks has been that there has not been a standard file format.
The iPad will start at $499 with an unlimited data plan for $30 a month.
This is going to be interesting to watch.
