RFID Is Not Secure!

When I give talks to various groups on information security, the one thing that I always mention is how insecure RFID really is. It is easier to hack RFID than it is to hack bluetooth.

It looks like Adam Savage of "Mythbusters" fame got in trouble for proposing an episode that demonstrated how insecure RFID really is. When Savage called Texas Instruments to discuss security issues with RFID, he was confronted by legal counsel from every major credit card company. Check out this YouTube interview with Savage at a security conference.

Think about that one next time you pull out your new passport with RFID embedded!
