Navy Outsourcing Lessons

Like most companies that outsource, the Navy learned their lesson the hard way. After 10 years and $10 billion, yes billion, the Navy has a convoluted system designed (NMCI) and delivered by HP. This 'state-of-the-art' system only allows email delivery 150 times less than Gmail.

The Navy just signed another five year contract with HP to continue the support of this wonderful system. Your tax dollars at work :-(

Back From The Beach

We are back from the beach. Destin was wonderful this year. No oil anywhere. The weather was actually cooler than it was here in Ohio. Go figure.

Birds At The Beach

Destin Florida is nice this time of year. The beaches are empty. I can't figure out if this is due to the oil scare or school starting back. There is no oil anywhere. There temperature here is actually cooler than it is at home this week.

Porsche 918 Spyder A Go

It looks like the Porsche 918 Spyder Hybrid will go into production after all. It will do 0-60 in 3.2 seconds and has a top speed of 198 mph.

It will go a whopping 16 miles on all electric power. Perhaps they should have called it the Porsche Volt :-)

New Couch

For those of you that know me, this was bound to happen. I don't have enough kitties so I need a cat couch. This thing is absolutely huge.

While Emily has picked out a new couch, I am suggesting the above :-)

What Do You Do Online?

Nielsen just did a study as to what people do online. It turns out people spend more time on social network sites now than they do with email. In fact, there was a reduction in the amount of time people spend on email.

Winnie's Birthday Party

Winnie had a birthday party today. It turns out that Winnie has a bit of a sweet tooth :-)

It is really hard to believe that Winnie turns two years old today. He still acts like a kitten. It seems like just yesterday I brought a little 1.5 lb fluff ball of a kitten home.

Dell Hell

It seems that Dell knowingly sold 12 million computers defective computers. In fact, these computers had a 97% failure rate. This has class action lawsuit written all over it.

Engadget today published a story about Android. Turns out that it is now the top selling smartphone operating system. I have been using Android since it first became available and love it!

National Watermelon Day

August 3rd is National Watermelon Day. It seems that Persians in particular like to celebrate this day. My little Persian, Winnie, will eat anything :-)

Boo Boo's Birthday Party

Boo Boo had a birthday party today. Winnie was the one that really wanted the cake. He is a little goat. :-)

Happy Birthday Boo Boo

Boo Boo turns two year old today. He is 40" long nose to tail and weighs a sleek 17 lbs. The first time that I saw Boo Boo he was only one month old and could fit in the palm of your hand. He is an awesome cat! Perhaps the friendliest cat I have ever met. When strangers come into the house he runs to say hello.
