Crazy Day
A Tough Laptop - No Really!
Well, I usually use a Mac but this is enough to make me think that Panasonic might not be a bad idea, if it weren't for having to use a Microsoft operating system :-) This tiger-resistant test was published in Forbes. They actually poured Diet Coke on the laptop to get Nalin interested.

Best Invention Ever
Don't Work For Canon!
This is crazy. There is a story over at Gizmodo about Canon Electronics. Apparently, the employees must stand all day. There are no chairs. In addition, if they are not walking fast enough an alarm goes off. And you thought your job was bad :-)

Where Is A Plug?
If you are a technology person like I am, there never seems to be enough electrical outlets. David Friedman over at Ironic Sans blog seems to have found a perfect solution.
This is awesome!

GPS Used To Demolish Wrong House
This is a sad use of technology. A Georgia demolition crew used GPS coordinates, rather than an actual address, to guide them to a demolition project. It turns out that it was the wrong house. Technology is a tool, not a replacement for decision making!

Windows 7 For CIO's - Not Likely!
In a recent focus group of CIOs, only one said that they would even consider implementing Windows 7 and then only if all the drivers were solid. That said, this single CIO was not interested in considering Windows 7 until 2011 at the earliest. The vast majority of CIOs said that they plan stick with Windows XP for as long as there is support available.

At WWDC today, Snow Leopard was previewed to a packed crowd. Snow Leopard was given a release date of September. The purpose of Snow Leopard it to improve the performance and increase the power of the operating system.
Bertrand Serlet, Apple's senior vice president of software engineering, said the next major version of OS X would be characterized by powerful new technologies, refinements to existing features, and support for Microsoft Exchange.
The great news is that if you are using Leopard, the upgrade is a whopping $29!

Palm Pre Released
The Palm Pre was released today at Spring Stores nationwide. This is going to be an interesting player in the market and comes at an odd time. Many believe that the new iPhone will be released on Monday at WWDC.
For now, the Palm Pre will sync with iTunes. It does so by emulating an iPod by transmitting Apple-specific vendor and product IDs to iTunes. I can hear the lawyers in Cupertino getting ready to hammer this one. Watch for the next version of iTunes to block the Palm Pre.

Glass Cube Sales
The New York City Apple store sold $440 million worth of merchandise last year. How do you think that Dell store is doing? :-)

What If You Had A Party But Forgot To Tell Anyone?
This is hilarious and typical of Microsoft. Microsoft threw a huge launch party for Bing at the Seattle Center but forgot to mention it to anyone beforehand. Seattle residents were as confused about what was going on at the Space Needle as they are as to what a "Bing" is.
This sounds like a Microsoft Bob moment.

Android Netbook
Acer is working on a Google Android netbook. This one will be interesting to watch. It seems that many of the netbook manufacturers are working on Android netbooks.

Google Wave
This may be the coolest email replacement that I have ever seen. Google announced Google Wave as the ultimate communication interface. As Google puts it "A "wave" is equal parts conversation and document, where people can communicate and work together with richly formatted text, photos, videos, maps, and more.
This is very cool!
