The Penske Group decided not to purchase Saturn after all. It appears as if the $81 billion of our tax dollars that went to bailout the automobile industry didn't work.
This is a video that Microsoft distributed to people that are having Windows 7 parties. Honestly, this could not be any more boring. Cnet goes so far as to call it 'The Worst Microsoft promo video ever.' How can a company like Microsoft make so many mistakes?
In what appears to be the largest FBI data-mining project in history, the FBI’s National Security Branch Analysis Center (NSAC) maintains a hodgepodge of data sets packed with more than 1.5 billion government and private-sector records about citizens and foreigners.
The data for this project comes from car-rental companies, large hotel chains and at least one national department store.
The details for this massive project can be found at Wired magazine.
I took this very cool photo of Boo Boo yesterday evening at sunset. It is hard to believe that he has not even lived with us for a year yet. (Click on the photo for a larger version).
The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety celebrates their 50th anniversary this year. To demonstrate how far automobile safety has come, they crashed a 1959 Chevrolet Bel Air into a 2009 Chevrolet Malibu.
While it was a shame to see an old Bel Air destroyed, it is amazing how far automobile safety has come.
Nikon has officially sold 50 million lenses in the last 50 years. The above is the first Nikkor lens. It is the 50mm f/2.0 and was sold in September of 1959.
This is instant entertainment. It seems that feral cats were playing on this guys roof. He found a way to entertain not only the kitties but himself :-)
OWC makes some of the coolest products available today. They just released a new On-The-Go drive that is solid state and blazing fast. They are expensive at this time but expect the prices to come down like every other flash based device.
You have to love Steve Ballmer. He is always good for a laugh.
At Microsoft's annual company meeting yesterday, an employees from the Windows group tried to take Bllemer's photo with an iPhone (See above photo from Engadget). Apparently, Mr. Ballmer grabbed the iPhone, set it on the ground, and stomped on it. It seems that this action created loud boos from the audience.
As many Gmail and Google Apps users know, Gmail was down much of yesterday. Google kept everyone in the loop as to what was going on with hourly updates. Today Google explained the situation and how it would be addressed.
This dedication to customer service is awesome. Gmail remains the most reliable email service on the planet with 99.9% availability.
If this situation had happened over at Hotmail no one would ever know what really happened and it would still be down!
Wired magazine chronicled the best movies of all time. Much like how we chronicle time in B.C. and A.D., Wired used the time anchor of Star Wars as the best movie of all time. Many argue about the best Pre Star Wars (P.S.W.). My personal favorite is Logan's Run. In all honesty though, the best P.S.W. movie would have to be 2001: A Space Odyssey.
