Steve Jobs Abandoned Mansion

Steve Jobs bought this 17,000 square-foot Woodside CA mansion and lived in it for 10 years. He let it fall into disrepair after 2000 with the thought that he would tear it down and build a new one in its place. Historic preservationists decided otherwise so Mr. Jobs just let the house deteriorate.

He got the last laugh once again!

Very Sad Day

Steve Jobs (1955-2011) passed away today due to a chronic medial condition. It is a very sad day indeed. No one embodies passion for technology like Steve Jobs. When everyone else said that he would fail, he held true to his vision and principles above everything else.

Steve Jobs will go down in history as the most inspiring technology visionary of all time!

RIP Steve Jobs!

Kindle Fire

Amazon announced the Kindle Fire today. It is their answer to the iPad. It is an Android device that is light and durable with access to all of Amazon's books, movies and TV shows.

This may well be the first product that actually challenges the iPad.

I really would not want to be Barns and Noble right now!

A Sad Day!

It is a sad day. Steve Jobs resigned as CEO of Apple today. Tim Cook will take over for him. Mr. Cook has been the heir apparent to the Apple throne for several years now. As such, nothing at Apple is going to change. Mr. Jobs will continue as the Chairman of Apple.

A sad day indeed! I wish Steve Jobs well!

The Lion Is Out

Apple released OS X 10.7, Lion, yesterday. I would have posted this yesterday but I was busy upgrading all of my machines. It works perfectly.

No one in the Windows world would ever upgrade to a new version of their OS on the first day. That would just be crazy! :-)

Will Apple's adoption of Thunderbolt be successful? It is a blazing fast interface. While USB 2.0 can transfer data at 480 Mbps, Thunderbolt transfers data at 10 Gbps. That is indeed lightning.

Dell Hell

Denial is a powerful tool! Andy Lark of Dell said the following today about the iPad

"I couldn’t be happier that Apple has created a market and built up enthusiasm but longer term, open, capable and affordable will win, not closed, high price and proprietary. Apple is great if you’ve got a lot of money and live on an island. It’s not so great if you have to exist in a diverse, open, connected enterprise; simple things become quite complex.”

Man, Dell really doesn't get it on so many levels that it is no surprise that they are in trouble.

Max OS X Turns 10 Today

Mac OS X turned 10 today. It is hard to believe that one of the world's best operating systems has been around for 10 years already. It seems like it was just yesterday that Cheetah came out. Well, not literally yesterday but it certainly doesn't seem like 10 years. :-)

Apple Lisa 1

An Apple Lisa 1 sold for $15,000 on eBay. This Lisa 1 actually works perfectly. It had been sitting in a closet for 20 years.

The Lisa 1 was very unreliable. To find one that actually works is a miracle of sorts.

Not sure that I could part with $15,000 to buy one thought :-)

Microsoft Explosion

When someone tells you that they switched to Mac, the story that ensues generally begins like this one.
