This is an amazing explanation of NASA funding!

NASA Lost Command Code Laptop

NASA admitted to congress that a laptop was stolen last year that contained common codes to the International Space Station.

The unencrypted laptop contained all of the information needed to command and control the International Space Station.

Oops!

NASA's CIO, Linda Cureton, announced over the weekend that their last mainframe computer had been shut down. This marked the end of an era in mainframe computing.

Twilight Landing at LAX

This is a great music video that shows an airline cockpit view of a landing approach at LAX. It take the 30 minute approach and compresses it down to 3 minutes.

It is actually very cool!

Nikon D3 In Space

The Nikon D3 has amazing low light properties. I can't wait to see the Nikon D4 announcement at PMA in a few weeks.

A-12 Avenger Canopy

A great gift for the person who has everything. How about the canopy from the secret A-12 Avenger? This stealth aircraft was developed by General Dynamics and McDonnell Douglas but was never built.

This canopy resided at Purdue University for 15 years before they sold it on GovDeals.com for $2300. This canopy appeared recently on eBay for $620,000.

Get it while you still can! :-)

NASA Locates Smallest Black Hole

NASA located the smallest black hole yet. They used a device called the Rossi X-Ray Timing Explorer (RXTE) to do so. This device acts like a large EKG machine.

Very cool!

Perfect House For The Apocalypse

If you need a place to get away from it all in case of say, the apocalypse? For only $1.75M, Sotherby's will sell you this lovely home built on top of an abandoned missile silo. It even comes with it's own airport.

The realtor envisions that the buyer would build condos in the silo. :-)

World's Best Office Chair

Could this be the best office chair ever? It is a Martin Baker Mk6 ejector seat used by the RAF and the Royal Navy.

No word on price but I would imagine that it is expensive.

Apollo 11 Had To Go Through Customs

Hard to believe but when the Apollo 11 crew returned from the moon, they had to go through customs. Your tax dollars at work!

You can't make this stuff up. :-)

Angry Airbus

This is great. How do you know when a video game is the most popular in the world? When an airline paints their fleet to resemble the games characters. :-)

Amazing!

Stuck In The Airport

How many of us have not been stuck in an airport due to a canceled flight. Joe Ayala and Larry Chen made a hilarious video of their plight when their flight from DFW was cancelled. They had to stay in the terminal overnight.

It seems that although the TSA was not amused by the video, everyone else is. :-)

Superman

This Swiss stuntman, Yves Rossy, flies with a jetpack after jumping from a hot air ballon. This is cool!

NASA's New Plane

NASA has received a budget of $15 million to build a new supersonic plane. Unlike the SR-71 Blackbird which only flew three times the speed of sound, this new plane will be able to exit the atmosphere somewhere between Mach 5 and Mach 20. I can't figure out how they are going to build this for only $15 million.

Close Call

Talk about a close call. This pilot, Captain Brian Bews, barely escaped death at an air show in Canada today. To add insult to injury, he wrote off a $32M CF-18 Hornet. My bet is that this time next week he is working at Walmart :-)
