Boo Boo is One Month Old
Emily and I drove to Columbus today to meet Boo Boo for the first time. Teresa Signore of Highlander Cattery was kind enough to allow us to visit with him. She has a wonderful cattery and some amazing cats. Teresa has a way with her cats that you would have to see to believe.
Boo Boo is the cutest red Maine Coon kitten that I have ever seen. His color and markings are beautiful! He is still wobbly when he walks but manages to move around enough to have his mother chasing after him.
Only 56 days until Boo Boo gets to come live with us. Not that we are counting :-)

This Should Be A New 'Get A Mac' Ad
If Apple wanted a new 'Get A Mac' ad with punch, this would be it.
According to SpaceRef.com, a virus has found its way onto the laptops used on NASA's Space Station. NASA insists that the virus is not serious. The virus is the W32.Gammima.AG worm. It is most often used to steal sensitive information.
The worm has been found on multiple laptops on the Space Station. When Wired's Threat Level asked NASA if any mission critical systems were connected to the same network as the laptops, NASA spokesperson Kelly Humphries simply said, "I don't know and even if I did, I wouldn't be able to tell you for IT security reasons."

New Microsoft Ad Features Jerry Seinfeld
This may be too funny to really be true. Microsoft's answer to the 'Get A Mac' ads that have been wildly popular is a $300 million ad campaign featuring Jerry Seinfeld. The ads are going to target Apple.
Ready for the punch line? Every episode of the TV show Seinfeld had a Mac in one location or another.

Bolt Wins 200m in World Record Time
In what can only be described as amazing, Usain Bolt of Jamaica won the 200m at the 2008 Olympic is a world record time of 19.30.
Bolt became the first man since Carl Lewis in 1984 to sweep the 100 and 200 gold medals at an Olympics. Not only that, he set new world records in both event. That has never been done before!
Vista Death Watch?
Is Vista really on a death watch? 35 percent of all PC's delivered with Vista have been downgraded to XP.
How is this possible? A survey by performance testing software developer Devil Mountain Software estimated that more than one in three new machines had either been downgraded by vendors such as Dell, or by customers once they bought the PC…
Microsoft has admitted that Vista was a pretty big mistake. Now, after trying some heavy duty marketing, which pretty much failed, Microsoft has finally conceded it’s high time to move on by explaining how they will engineer Windows 7. They have 1000 programmers working full time on Windows 7. This should be interesting.

Its Official - People Love Apple!
This is something that I have been saying for some time. People love Apple. I can't think of a single person that has not had a problem with a PC, especially now that Vista is with us.
The American Customer Satisfaction Index (ACSI) on Tuesday gave Apple the highest score ever for a computer company. Apple received a score of 85 while it's closest competitor, Dell, received a 75. That said, this is an increase in customer satisfaction for Dell.
The reason that people buy Apple products is customer service. I don't know about you, but if I never had to talk to another offshore Call Center my life would be great!

Usain Bolt Wins 100M in Beijing
In what was the most amazing 100m race ever, Usain Bolt of Jamaica won the 100m in record time. He broke his own world record with a 9.69. He actually let up about 10 meters from the finish line and as the photo shows, still won by a large margin. Absolutely Amazing!

Broadband Speed in USA is Horrible!
According to a recent study by the Communications Workers of America, the average broadband speed in the USA is 2.35 megabits per second.
In Japan the median download speed is 63.60Mbps. In South Korea it’s 49 mbps. In Finland it’s 21.7Mbps. So where does the USA place? Number 15th overall. This is embarrassing.

Vista Security is Broken!
At the annual Black Hat conference in Las Vegas, two security researchers demonstrated a new technique that essentially bypasses all of the memory protection safeguards in the Windows Vista operating system. This method uses I.E. and active scripting to load whatever content they want onto someones computer. Redmond, we have a problem!

Boo Boo is Three Days Old
Emily and I decided to grace our home with more kittens. Here is a photo of Boo Boo. He is three days old and one of the three in the pile in the photo. By the time that he can come to live with us in 12 weeks, he will be approximately 8 lbs. Pretty amazing. He was born at Highlander Cattery, one of the top Maine Coon breeders in the country.
We are also on the waiting list for a red doll-faced Persian at Paws and Purrs Cattery. We are keeping our fingers crossed on news from them any day now.

Microsoft's New Ad - What Are They Smoking ?
Tired of the bad press that Vista has received, Microsoft has launched a $300 million ad campaign to set the record straight. Unfortunately, the $300 million was not enough to buy an adequate advertising company. The "Earth is Flat" ad basically insinuated that people that do not like Vista are Luddites.
As anyone that follows tech knows, Vista got off to a rocky start. As Brad Brooks, Microsoft's VP of Windows Vista put it "We broke a lot of things. We know that, and we know it caused you a lot of pain." To make matters worse for Microsoft, Apple has pointed out Vista's flaws at every turn.
I actually like Vista. I prefer it to XP and use it more often than OS X. That said, insinuating that people that do not use Vista also believe that the earth is flat is rather insulting. Is it any wonder people are flocking to Apple?
